Focus

Redelsheimer-Ostrander House - Seattle WA - Madrona Neighborhood
Focus, the portion of a scene or thought that one concentrates upon.

Focus, on the foreground?

Focus, on the background?

Hyperfocal distance?

Deciding where to put the focus in an image changes the emphasis

and how a person’s eye is drawn into and around the subject.

Here, I’ve chosen to focus on the small branches of a tree

whose buds are beginning to swell with the promise of spring about to burst,

rather than upon the solarium of the Redelsheimer-Ostrander House.

:    :    :

The Redelsheimer-Ostrander House,

a Georgian Revival 26 room mansion build in 1910

by Seattle clothing scion Jules Redelsheimer on Lake Washington,

is a stately, classic home.

The likes of which I’ll only see on a tour,

if there were any.

I was pleased with the solarium’s bright white as a back drop

for the bare branches I chose for my subject.
