View of Mount Baker - Abbotsford BC

Having a majestic mountain view can become common place to those who see them daily.

Here on the outskirts of the British Columbia city of Abbotsford,

a farm has views across the border of Mount Baker (10,781′)

in Washington state that are sweeping and beautiful.

:    :    :

Having grown up between the western Washington towns of Auburn and Kent,

on what we called the west hill,

I daily, (or at least as weather permitted)

saw the stunningly beautiful 14,411′ glacier covered Mount Rainier.

Washington state has four active volcanoes in the Cascade Mountain range,

Mounts Baker, Rainier, Helens and Adams.

:    :    :

It is possible for people grow accustomed to views,

even gorgeous ones and don’t really ‘see’ them anymore.

But as one person who has been blessed to live in their shadow life long,

and see their variety of moods and colors nearly every day,

I can tell you I never tire

of a brief glance up from the road

and say to myself,

‘Wow, look at the mountain this morning (or afternoon).

:    :    :

I am thankful I can say I still marvel at their beauty.

:    :    :

What about you,

do you have a beautiful view

you never take for granted?

Stunning view! Once while visiting the Rocky Mountain National Park, we were at the ranger station, and as I turned I was completely taken by the view out the window – and I asked the people who worked there the same question – Do you actually get used to seeing this? They just smiled. Now in our weekend getaway, we have a mountain view – not nearly so majestic, but I love it. I haven’t taken it for granted yet. It’s the first thing I look at in the morning, and I savor my morning coffee gazing out the window.

I never tire of seeing views of our mountain – and on sunny days we always try to find a reason to have a look. I am amazed when I see so many houses that have a tremendous view of Mt. Baker and they have the back of their house facing the mountain, and not the front with the big windows. If you have to come in the back door – that’s ok – get the best view possible!!!

Gorgeous photo! That farm is beautiful. Never, ever take it for granted. Every day is a blessing living in this beautiful place. Right now I am watching an eagle soar out my window. This state is truly like paradise. xx

  • I think we as photographers always see the beauty in everything. Even living in the flat midwest I find beauty in the vastness, the peacefulness of the cornfields around us. And then ofcourse, there is the beauty of the great lake, Michigan. So…beauty is everywhere.

Beautiful shot as usual. I never, ever, tire of the views of Mt. Baker and surrounding mountains. I’m blessed to live here.

Quite the barn complex, and then the lovely mountain behind! I never tire of nature’s beauty and miss it when surrounded by the concrete of a big city. I think you pay more attention when you start getting serious about photography and always have a camera with you. You notice not only the beauty in a large mountain but also the quiet beauty in a tiny wildflower.

What a gorgeous view and the light is perfect on the mountain top.

To reply to your question, yes, I do have a beautiful view I never take for granted and I immediately knew it the first time I saw it – the Superstition Mountains in Arizona. I always look forward to our trips back that way. *sigh*

We do often take our familiar environment for granted — it’s nice that you take the time to enjoy and share with us! :)

This is the first blog I’m reading this morning (home with a terrific cold! Ugh!) and you’ve put my mind in gear. On an everyday-basis I’m usually looking at the back of a car in bumper-to-bumper traffic and then the flow of paper as it crosses my desk BUT there are those views around me that I do pay special attention to. And, I agree with Elaine above, I think it’s due to the camera viewfinder. The view from my office window, although not extremely beautiful, is certainly always changing and there is always something to look at and then there’s the college campus I drive through…always something interesting to look at there! Beautiful post, beautiful photo Madge…thanks for waking me up today! :)

That is a beautiful view! :)
We have a mountain view out the front windows, not nearly that high but a mountain nonetheless. I’m always amazed by the many moods of the mountain and never take the view for granted.

Yes, it is easy to take a gorgeous view for granted! I *love* the mountains and the ocean…they are my two all-time favourites! Mount Baker is the view my sister-in-law and brother-in-law have from their dining room window…they live in Abbotsford. We see it every Sunday on our way to church…it truly is amazingly beautiful! I enjoy observing the various changes it goes through. SO majestic!!

    Blessings to you!

We are always saying… “did you see the mountain today?” referring to Mt Rainier. I love that we never tire of seeing it. I love Mt Baker too. A couple of our sons live in Bellingham and we love to see their mountain too. I always love all your facts about our home on the west side of the mountains, where my heart lies, while I am stuck over here on the east side. Makes me homesick. We are heading home this weekend though and up to Bellingham. Maybe I will see both “my” mountains!

    Betsy
