Donuts or Doughnuts

Krispy Kreme - Neon Sign

Donuts or doughnuts, it is all the same.

A piece of ring shaped dough, fried in fat.

Usually covered in sugar or sweet icing.

:     :     :

Out and about early last Saturday morning,

just before dawn,

the Krispy Kreme in SODO (south of downtown Seattle),

was humming with activity.

While their neon sign blazed out into the dark,

employees were busy creating donuts, of various types,

in preparation for customers soon to arrive.

:     :     :

I occasionally crave a donut,

you know,

a ring shaped piece of dough,

fried in fat,

covered in sugar

or icing that’s too sweet.

:     :     :

Not particularly healthy,

probably not very healthy,

oh all right, all right!

It’s not healthy at all,

but unhealthy never tastes so good,

sometimes.

  1. One of the best ways to not be healthy ever! and Krispy Kreme reins supreme!!!

thanks, been doing really good with cutting sweets out, and now I will go to bed with HOT NOW rings of dough, fried in fat and covered with sugar or icing too sweet on my mind. well, maybe I’ll have sweet dreams! :)

  2. Oh yea, the best things in life! Love that neon sign! There are no Krispy Kremes around here, but I do indulge at the Safeway donut case. You know, the big round ones with the sugar sprinkled on top. My reward for the hard work of grocery shopping. he he.

  3. i love a good donut. luckily we don’t have a kk in my town, have to go into roanoke and i never go into roanoke just for a donut lol….usually we end up with a dozen when we are out and about and notice the “hot now” sign on…we had a little local shop here but they only made cake donuts. i don’t really care for cake donuts because they are too heavy to me. sadly though that little place went out of business. my kids loved it! it’s now a boring old credit union :/

  4. Ahhhhh donuts….something I rarely have any more…boo hoo! The first time I had a Krispy Kreme I was in Penn Station in NYC with my son. On the way home I bought a dozen…they did not make it into New Jersey. And now I need a doughnut/donut! Sweet post!

  5. hey, i thought of you last night as my husband came home from work with a dozen krispy kreme donuts! isn’t that weird? i haven’t had a kk in ages then out of the blue! and no, i didn’t mention a word to him!

  6. I can smell them, right in my smell memories. When I was a teen, my mom owned a restaurant from the bakery from whom we purchased a variety of doughnuts. My boyfriend worked there so once I got to go to the back where the mixing, etc. went on. what fun seeing the enormous mixer! I haven’t had a doughnut in decades. :(
