Heron Island

Heron Island Ferry Dock on Key Peninsula

Bright sun, snow-capped Olympic Mountains and deep ultramarine blue salty waters of Puget Sound. Yesterday,

I showed you the view from Seahurst Beach,

what typical winter weather looks like in the Northwest.

The grayness,

the heavy cold drizzling rain that soaks everything.

But here,

you can see how gorgeous the views around the Sound can be,

when the weather is cold and clear in January.

This is on Key Peninsula in the south Sound,

looking west towards the snow-capped Olympic Mountains.

The salty waters of the Sound are deep ultramarine blue

and the variegated emerald greens of the islands and shoreline.

This was last January,

we haven’t had many of those days yet this year.

Rather pretty, isn’t it?

Beautiful! There’s nothing quite like seeing the mountains on a clear day. . .and how welcome it is, mid-winter, after the grey of days like your post yesterday. (Aren’t we due now for a few days like this?)
