IO4EVER - Personalized License Plate

Personalized license plates or vanity plates whichever they’re called in your state,

can be revealing or funny at times. Recently on Highway 518 eastbound near SeaTac Airport while my husband was driving,

I spotted this license plate.

I laughed out loud.

:     :     :

Then immediately dug out my camera to try to grab a shot or two through the rainy windshield.

This one wasn’t too blurry between rain and speeding vehicles.

‘IO4EVER,’ oh my, I don’t want to be in his shoes!

Certainly that Nissan Armada set him back a few bucks.

:     :     :

I love looking at vanity plates, trying to figure out what they may mean,

do you?

Some are obvious like this one on the Armada.

:     :     :

I worked with Jack, a fellow bus driver whose small pickup plates were ‘CLD4TO.’

I looked at that for the longest time before I figured it out,

‘Cleared for take off.’

I then found out he was a pilot.

I saw another one near the the airport,

the plate frame said ‘Alaska Airlines.’

The plate was ‘CLD2LD.”

After having figured out Jack’s plate,

This one was easy for me,

‘Cleared to Land.’

:     :    :

But perhaps the best one I’ve ever seen,

was on a minivan filled with a mom and kids,

which displayed ‘PB4WEGO.’

Now there’s a philosophy of life to follow and tell your fellow man about it!

Very cool catch! I’ve often thought I’d like a vanity plate but then could never decide what I wanted and realized I’d probably change my mind over time a get tired of it. My photog instructor had one I did not understand at all at the beginning of the week but, by the end of the class, I knew I’d never forget it…F8NBTHR. He was a photojournalist and editor for a newspaper and explained that, when you’re in a hurry, most news photogs go to f8 and the shot would usually be on target (hense BTHR…be there). So, whenever I’m in doubt, I think of ‘f8 and be there’ and start shooting at f8 and work my way from there. Thanks for this capture…a good laugh for sure.

IO4EVER? I think this guy is making an observation about the sorry state of this nation’s finances. He, you and I ALL owe forever, thanks to the idiots in Washington. Regardless of how prudent we are in managing our own finances.

Now, isn’t that a fine rant for me to begin 2013? I hope you have a happy and healthy new year.

I’ve driven along behind an occasional vanity plate for miles, repeating it over and over again until I get a flash of understanding – and usually a good laugh. (I’d personally rather drive something much more modest than emblazon my debt on a license plate. But I think that wisdom came with the incentive of retirement freedom!)

  • Madge, you did really good on getting that SUV focused so clear. I don’t know if you use photo shop or not or if you sharpened it there. I have never tried to get a shot in front of me. How stupid can one be? I like this post a lot. In fact it was educational. Happy New Year to You. Don’t remember if I already wished that for you or not.

When I was back on the east coast I had a personalized plate that said YESHOWE. An acquaintance told me that they thought maybe my husband’s name was Howie (I guess she misread HOWE) and that the “Yes” was an answer to his marriage proposal. It actually was supposed to refer to the rock band YES and their lead guitarist Steve HOWE. And they only allowed 7 characters, so I couldn’t put a space in between, which confused people more.

I don’t have one now here in Seattle, but I do love trying to decipher others vanity plates!

  • Dave’s car had Cove Guy, my car Cove Gal, the truck COVE and the 1964 Scotty trailer Cove Toy. The guy driving the car in the photo needs to take Dave’s Ramsey’s class…Financial Peace University -grin-.

Madge, wow if you pull out your camera any faster the police will have to hire you as the speed trap! Or we will just call you quick draw! Anywho, great capture, hope all is well. Happy New Years!
