New Years Space Needle 2012 - Red Star Burst

Bang! Flash! Red.white.blue.Ooh.ahh.wow! New Year’s at the Needle is fifteen minutes of pyrotechnics,

dancing to music synced to the resounding bangs and brilliant flashes.

The weather has been cold and clear the last two New Year’s Eves.

An unusual event in Seattle, where winter brings cold rain,

and lots of it.

So I was excited that the New Year’s Eve bringing in 2012 was ideal.

Driving to Alki beach in West Seattle two hours before midnight to ‘hold’ my parking place,

I hunkered down in a cold car, playing games on my smart phone.

This image is one of several hundred I took,

looking east across Elliott Bay to downtown about two miles away.

Using my longest lens (300mm) I mounted my Pentax K7 on my tripod,

I listened to the ooohs and aaahs of those standing around me,

as I stood with right eye ‘glued’ to the viewfinder,

remote trigger in my right hand.

Exposing my thoughts in a post a couple of days ago on change for the New Year,

I am anticipating being kinder, more encouraging,

and healthier.

Actually, I began losing weight after Thanksgiving and have dropped eleven pounds as of today.

I’d like to thank each of you, my blogging friends for your points of view,

allowing me to see bits of the world as you know it and share it on you blogs.

Thank you too, for sharing on ‘Weekly Top Shot’ so faithfully.

Each visit and comment here at The View From Right Here is a delight for me!

May you always have walls for the winds,

a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire,

laughter to cheer you, those you love near you,

and all your heart might desire.
