Counter Stools - Chelan Cafe - West Seattle WA

Please seat yourself.

What a common beckoning phrase we find at diners we frequent.

I love it, don’t you?

You don’t have to wait and let someone else choose your table or booth, you pick it yourself.

:    :    :

Sometimes my husband gets on my case a little bit,

because I’ll pick a table that still must be cleared from the last customer’s meal.

Why is it that the best table is still dirty?

Okay, well, it’s the table I want,

it’s by the window,

so I can watch what’s going on outside and watch what’s going on inside.

:    :    :

What about you?

Do you want that table?

You know the one by the window with dishes to be cleared yet.

:    :    :

Here at Chelan Cafe on Chelan Avenue almost underneath the West Seattle freeway,

classic red diner counter stools wait for customers occupation.

Chelan Cafe, has been a fixture in the industrial area near the Dumwamish River for decades.

A hangout for longshoremen, truckers and lovers of diner food.

I love these stools, brings back a flood of fun memories… and yes, i do always want a certain table. one that we go to has 4 booths that are sitting on a raised platform, they are private but give a grand view of the whole resturant. i love people watching… last week, there were dishes on it and the waitress was MIA, i sat down and waited until she came back, she had to clean around us.

I love those old stools. I will too which irks my hubby at times, especially if we are traveling and really just want a quick bite to eat so we can get back on the road, but I don’t care..hehehe…:)

Happy New Year Madge. We usually go for the table by the window too, or a booth. I love your beautiful shot of the stools.

Oh I do like the looks of those stools. I can picture a root beer float in front of me. I don’t know why though since I don’ t really like them…Lol

Hi Madge! Thanks for your visit today~ I’ve been here a time or two before and immediately remembered your very cool photography! The bar stools here is not exception! Hope you’re enjoying the holiday weekend…

Those are cool seats! I want to sit down and order an ice cream soda!
I like the booth seats at a restaurant. I hate sitting right in the middle or right by the door. :(
Wishing you all the best for 2013 Madge!
    xo Catherine

Thanks for stopping by my blog and following! I love company and new friends are always welcome!

  • I don’t think I’ve eaten out once in the last twelve months….wait a minute, we did once and we were the only ones there that night, sat by the winter waterside.
Like your shot of the stools Madge, lovely contrast and shapes.

This is very retro and very red…it’s excellent. I absolutely love diners…real diners. So many around here have become more like formal restaurants…just too too formal. I like choosing my seat (must be a booth) in a key spot where you can see lots of what’s going on, including the dessert display. And a diner in the early morning hours, with the smell of bacon, eggs, and coffee…yes, you can’t beat that!

i love those seats! i just follow my husband and sit where i’m told lol…he has a thing, he has to be in the seat where he can see all around the restaurant to know what is going on. something that goes back to his marine corps days, being prepared for some sort of disaster that may happen….you never know right?….happy new year to you and your family!

  • Angela says:

That would be my table. The dirty one that is still being cleared. Yes, it’s usually by the window. And you know what, when seating is done by a hostess, I have no problem saying–no, not that one, that one. Life is too short to sit by the kitchen.

  • Diane says:

Oh, I love old fountain shop stools… red, green, blue… doesn’t matter. I love them all and their shiny stems. LOL

WELCOME!
