Macy's Window Display - Believe

Believe, it’s a word we see and hear a lot during the holiday season. But my question is believe, what? What do you want me to accept as real or true? Santa? No sorry, not. The end of time on 12.21.12, ah no, sorry not that either! I was trying to think of something clever to post about the 12.21.12 end of days catastrophe that was to occur today. But I’m still in full blown sick mode, I can barely think, much less cross into the clever category (not that I’m all that clever when I’m well, he.he.he). Were you at all concerned about this supposed end of time prophecy by the Mayans? I’ve never given it the least thought, other than to dismiss it from my mind. Frankly, I did give a wee bit of credence to Y2K, because it did have some plausibility. Not because I thought it would be the end of life as we know it, but I wanted to have a full pantry and gas tank in case we couldn’t have had access to POS at the stores or gas stations. But then again, I always have a full pantry and try never to let my tank fall below half full anyway. What about you?

I hope all my friends in the midwest have full pantries and wood bins to keep safe against the blizzard hitting them today…

Only hiccup in the snow storm was having to save my husband this morning from being stuck in a ditch.

Made me feel good to be able to help him as he helps me 99% of the time.

    Feel better. xo

I think it’s a matter of believing in anything that is important to you. The end. The beginning. A being greater than us. Not believing in a deity. Believing in change. Just believing because it’s a positive thing to do.

Hope that flu, cold, crud leaves you alone soon. Hubby has been suffering from a bad fluish cold for a week and I am hoping and believing that I will not be next.

Hi Madge! Hope you feel better soon. My mom’s been fighting something nasty this year too :(

I didn’t pay to much attention to this whole Mayan “end of world” thing. Thought about it only yesterday when I decided to do some research and found out that it was just the end of the Mayan Baktun.

    Happy Holidays!

truly a beautiful window… and i wonder if the people who decorated know what they believe. for me i did not believe the world would end because I believe the Word of God and it says no one knows when the end of time will come.

I love that you manage to find so much red to photograph. It sort of goes with the season. And, no, I’m way too old to worry about falling off the earth out into space. Santa Claus is kind of cool though! Have a nice holiday season.

  • Andy says:

The Mayans never said the world would end today. It was the conspiracy theorists. Unfortunately there’s too many people that believed them.

  • Karen says:

Believe in advertising? I hope you feel better soon! No fun being sick during the Holidays. Mayan who?

  • Helene says:

No concerns here re. the Mayan prediction. Actually no real concerns about anything mentioned. The week went so fast, one day melted into the next and now, here we are, about 3 days away from Christmas and I’m not concerned or really excited about that either. Hmmmm, maybe I’m just getting ‘over the hill’ or maybe I’m just so happy to be looking at time off until 1/2/13. I so hope you start feeling better soon and will start the new year on the right foot.
Wish I could send you some homemade chicken soup! In the meantime, BELIEVE you will be better soon! BTW, great shot!
