Every year, the day after Thanksgiving a stylized Christmas tree is placed atop the Space Needle. Here, peeping over the EMP (Experience Music Project) at the Seattle Center, the Space Needle with its glowing tree and the street lights all twinkle in the last minutes of the cobalt blue sky at day’s end. Shot with my 10-17mm Semi-Fish-Eye Pentax DA lens, the trees all look a bit skewed, but how else would one get such a wide view of the scene? Surprisingly I use this lens more often than I ever thought I would.
It’s been a busy week, cold and rainy. Family holiday plans mean I’ll have little time for photography this weekend, but I’m looking forward to spending time with those I haven’t had a chance to see in nearly a year and enjoying their company. What about you, what are you doing this weekend?

How beautiful is that – the way the light sparkles.

The weekend…making homemade soup, baking cookies. Looking forward to some downtime between Christmas and New Year. This is a great shot…especially like the star effect on the street lights!
I enjoyed visiting the Space Needle around this time of year a number of years ago. Had so much fun…we took the Amtrak Coast Starlight starting in L.A. We met many interesting people along the way and staying in Seattle at the end of the line was fabulous.
Beautiful shot!
Thanks for hosting, Madge! Have a great week!

Spectacular!!
I am always smitten with the sky at twilight. There’s something magical at that time.
For some reason I am having the worst time getting your site to load. I have tried three browsers and it won’t come up. Just didn’t want you to think I have forgotten about you.
I like this beautiful and bright frame. Very nice photo.
Love your photo Madge, such an interesting composition and you caught the light at just the right time. Hope your plans and preparations go smoothly.

What a cool shot! Thanks for sharing the lens that you used. I’m new to photography and when I see photos I often wonder how they were captured. For now I just have my kit lens but hopefully one day I can add to my lens collection :)
Yesterday was kind of busy for us, but today we plan on doing absolutely nothing! I’m going to make pancakes and we will just bum around the house. I’m so excited :)
I haven’t been to the space needle in years. Your photo is beautiful!
Lovely scene.
Nice night shot. This is the best time of year to practice my night photography.
