Inspiration: ‘The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, esp. to do something creative: ‘flashes of inspiration’.’

I’m just not feeling the fire lately in my photography which is a highly unusual situation for me. What happens inside a person that causes the creative juices to slow from a flood to a trickle? Energy? Work? Weather? Health? Money? Time? Location? Fewer daylight hours? Pinpointing the cause is a foggy issue in my mind right now, it most likely is a couple of issues intertwined. I think schedule and energy may have more to do with it than anything. You see, I get up at 04:15 and arrive home at 17:00, with bedtime being at 20:00 in order to hope for a good night’s sleep. Throw in a little time to catch up with my family (husband, son and pets) eat a bite of supper, well, you get the picture, it all the equals no time left. It can be difficult to find scenes that pop when you only have one day a week to shoot, and you’re too tired to do so on weeknights. Conversely, when I’m driving around eight hours a day, I often see photo ops, but I’m driving!

Well, that’s enough sniveling for one day… hope this funk passes soon….

all I have to say, is your photos are awesome, as is this one, and we would never know your juices are not flowing or that your day is crammed. every photo you post is perfection. love this bulb. and no wonder you have no time for shooting your perfect shots….. that is a long day

  2. I totally understand. The past few weeks have been hard for me inspiration wise. I chalk it up to fewer daylight hours, cold weather, and stark surroundings. All the color is gone out of the woods and everything is brown now! I always get inspired by being in nature, but it’s harder to get inspired in the winter with not much going on outside. The adjustment this time of year is always hard for me.

  3. Love the Christmas twist to your header!!! When I get stuck in a funk I usually turn to a different avenue of creativity for awhile and the inspiration is re-ignited. Or I take a course on something I have been wanting to learn – like the recent night photography class I took. And then…sometimes it is just enough to ‘sit still and be’….we don’t always have to be at the top of our game ;)….love the photo…I think it’s pretty ‘inspirational’ ;)…BTW…I started a new Thursday meme called ‘Cool Clicks’…this would be perfect if you are interested ;)

  4. I’m with you totally on this one. I suspect my problem is that I’ve had not time to just look around and photograph. Everytime I’ve had my camera with me, it’s been ‘forced.’ So not good. And I sometimes we over-think things and need to step back. That’s where I am right now…taking a step back. Hopefully it will result in a big jump ahead :)
