Fisher Plaza KOMO News 4 Dishes - Seattle WA

Ever present satellite dishes, seem to be growing in number over time. Here the first light of dawn creates deep blues and purples in the clouds and sky behind the dishes atop Fisher Plaza near the Seattle Center north of downtown Seattle. Fisher Plaza is home to the broadcast facilities for one of our local tv stations, KOMO. While out shooting the Space Needle in the early morning hours, I turned to the right and saw this view, loved the colors and chuckled at the number of dishes, looking a bit like ears.

I’m sorry, I still have not had time to visit you all, I hope to begin getting around your blogs this evening after work. It does bother me when I cannot visit in a timely way.

  1. First, thank you for following my blog and commenting on my posts. I’ve had a bit of a difficult time reaching you as your Google+ account showed up when I clicked on your avatar. And I am not a fan of Google or Google+ so I want to stay away from it for as long as they let me. Then I wrote about this dilemma and Madsnapper Sandra gave me you URL, so here I am. And, yes, that is a great capture, both the colors and those ears. Now, I would like to be a follower of your blog. I guess I have to figure that out too. I’ll look around and see what I can find out here. Certainly some great pictures.

  2. Remember the good ol’ days when homes had an antenna attached to the chimney with a wire running down the side and into a window to the TV? I have cable now but, when I switched to dish, I begged the installer to mount the equipment someplace on the house where you could not see it from the street. He did exactly as I asked and, when the first snow storm hit, the dish was covered in a snow drift for a week. Of course, it was the week between Christmas and New Year’s and I was on vacation….a very long week!

    1. Yes, I remember well. I wish we could still receive analog tv signals from stations broadcasting in our area. The digital revolution pushed most of us into the cable/dish mode. I believe the Attorney General should be looking into their operations as either price fixing or a monopoly… I’ve heard too that weather knocks out dishes… hmmm wish there were better choices.

  3. You never know what you’ll find when you look another direction, do you? Love this shot, Madge. And your text. About your VW van, I think I’ve got a photo of one like that–your description rings a great big bell in my memory. Yep, I found it. It’ll be on the blog on Sunday! Let me know if it’s like yours, please. Thanks!
