Hanging Baskets of Flowers on Vintage Red Brick Building in Pioneer Square

Hanging like vintage sentries, two hanging flower baskets flank, and adorn a century old red brick doorway. Commercial flower baskets, so lovely, full of color, texture and often scents, they can brighten a patio or doorway. Around my local town of Burien and in Seattle, urns and hanging baskets of flowers bring cheer to customers, employees and visitors. Okay, I confess, I’m not the best gardener. There I said it, but there must be a secret that I don’t know, because my hanging baskets of flowers never look lush and healthy like these. Is it the fertilizer, potting soil, timed watering system, what?? Also, I often see nasturtiums in baskets and they never have aphids (even at the end of the season), my nasturtiums always do even early on. Are you a good gardener? Are you a secret holder? Are you a secret teller? If you know the answers to my pondering questions, do tell!!!

  1. These flower baskets have nice color and look lush. I’m like you. I put out flower baskets and flower boxes, but I don’t go nuts on the fertilization so they don’t thrive like the commercially prepared ones do.

  2. I love your photo! love the brick wall, the composition, the light. it’s perfect. about gardening I can’t help you dear, I’m sorry. I’m a terrible gardener myself. I forget to water my plants (so my mother gives me cactus instead, lol). visiting from Sunday Best. happy week ahead :) xxo

Visiting from MOM. This is such a beautiful photo, the red brick is just fabulous. Your nasturtiums are in the same company as mine! I didn’t bother with them this year. I wish I knew the secret.
