King Street Station

King Street Station - Seattle WA

King Street Station, a classic railroad station in downtown Seattle. Built in 1904 to serve passengers of the Northern Pacific and Great Northern Railways until 1971 when Amtrak began service into and out of Seattle. Here I’ve caught the station’s iconic Pioneer Square clock tower at dawn, in early fall with rainy wet streets. This was one year ago, it has been dry here in Seattle since July 22nd, with just 14 minutes of rain on September 10… 80 dry days. I’ve never seen things SO dry, but in just two short days, on Friday, the RAIN is coming and then it is rainy for the five day forecast after that… hip.hip.hooray! I can’t wait… I’ve missed the rain terribly!

Please accept my apologies for being scarce commenting on your blogs these last few days. I’ll be trying to get around to visit you all in the next couple days… I’ve been fighting off some kind of virus (remember I work with about 300 kids of all ages daily in an enclosed area [read 40′ bus]) and have been going to bed just about as soon as I get home from work.

  1. Madge, sure hope you feel better quickly. My sister drives a school bus and she’s forever bringing home an illness. I keep telling her to drink elderberry juice to boost her immune system…not sure she’s listening to me -smile-.
This is a lovely photo and train stations are fabulous…always going to and fro, people saying good-bye and hello.

  2. A beautiful shot with great color! Those kids will do it to you everytime…my 3 grandsons pass the germs back and forth to eachother and then to their parents. Now that the 5 year old is in school, it’s even more prevalent. Take care!
