Bone dry grass rustles in the breeze. So odd for Washington to be this dry. In my lifetime this is the driest spell of weather I can ever remember. Our last ‘real’ rainfall was on July 22, and the last measurable rain fell for 14 minutes on September 10. Seventy-six days of sunshine, I confess I’m missing the rain terribly. It is SO dry, even western Washington is now experiencing forest fires and we still have a number of fires burning over on the east side of the mountains.
This morning our weather man is saying we may get some rain late next week, and that NOAA is saying the northwest may remain below normal precipitation through the spring. Again, I’ll say I miss the rain, I can only take so many days of sunshine. Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain!
i am hoping you get some rain! we finally got 4 1/2 inches this weekend after almost zero for 2 months. it was so welcome.
this photo is really nice, though.
that is so pretty, the movement, the feeling of dry, the end of season .. the last gasp .
It stopped raining here in Indiana in mid May and we didn’t get any significant rain until first of August. Since then we have gotten quite a bit of rain. I know what you mean about missing the rain….my wife doesn’t like rain but I love a rainy day as long as it’s not that way for a long time.
I sure hope the weather predictors are wrong and ya’ll get some rain this winter!
You captured some nice texture.
That’s a great photo…in spite of the dryness of it all! I’m not missing the rain because the rain usually results in water in the basement – especially after a very dry spell. However, there is a point when enough is enough. All I ask is that it rain during the evening hours. Wouldn’t it be great to just turn it on and off, whenever we wanted? Enjoy the weekend!
Beautiful texture captured here.
