Lights Are On

Cadillac Hotel in Pioneer Square - Seattle WA

Shining out into the night, some of the lights are on at the Cadillac Hotel in Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square.

Built in 1889, the hotel was badly damaged in the 2001 Nisqually earthquake. Purchased by Historic Seattle, the building was seismic reinforced and restored.

The lights were on around here late into the night too. My husband wasn’t feeling well and our dog, Lucy was very ill. For a while I was thinking ER, but then they seemed to feel a little better. Between worry over them both, not a lot of sleep happened and 04:15 comes awfully early when sleep doesn’t.

  1. I like the ambience of Pioneer Square, and I think I’ve made my way down there every time I’ve been to Seattle. (And it didn’t hurt that the EB Book Sore, now moved, was down there also.) I “googled” Cadillac Hotel, and see that it’s now used as a museum, which is even a better use for this old building.

I hope all’s better on the home front. I thought 5:30 was an early start time at my last job. . .4:15 is still the middle of the night! And worse still when you’ve worried or stressed the night away.

This is a gorgeous building. So nice that they didn’t give it up for lost. Seismic upgrades are an expensive proposition, however much worth it it may be in the long run.

  3. A ‘moody’ photo…I like it! I was out after moon rise the other night and shot some photos of a baseball field (the game had just ended). The floodlights were a challenge. But we are having so much fun! Hope all is well with Mr. B. and Lucy!
