Running, a pleasant jaunt or grueling marathon, many do it daily. Some runners dress to the ‘nines,’ some are in sweats, some look like they’re enjoying themselves and others as if each step is tortuous.
Except when I was a kid and running around all the time to play or being ‘punished’ in high school gym class, I have only been in the ‘runners’ camp one time in my life for about a year and it was not pleasant. I admire those that run with seeming effortlessness, but I just walk these days.
Here, on the east side of Queen Anne Hill, north of downtown Seattle, I caught a jogger in the amber rays of a very early summer morning. I was actually shooting Lee Street, the small lane to the right. The old, curving cement retaining wall and the trees heavily draping over it were so visually pleasing. Then the runner came along and voila, magic happened.

thsi is a very good shot. Maybe one of the best I´ve seen. I kept looking at it. I like the area. The single person running and the light. Gorgeous!
Lovely image… you are right that the light hitting the jogger makes it magical! (Thanks for continuing to notify me even though it’s been ages since I’ve posted here… am hoping to be a bit more regular from now on… best intentions anyway!)
So beautiful autumn picture, beautiful colors.
Good Saturday, Marit.
What a beautiful place for a walk (or run) – I love the golden light highlighting the runner; like his own personal spotlight. :)
Very nice Madge. :)

I love the warm golden light – makes the coming of winter less foreboding. And you’re right: the runner was a perfect bonus!

A gorgeous fall view. Beautiful color, light and composition.
Beautiful pictures full of nice light and color. Greetings.
You captured the magic beautifully too. There are so many points of interest here – the trees, curving walls, fallen leaves. Great location.
LOVE the old wall!
It reminds me so much of an old bridge in my hometown.
The light here is indeed a bit of magic.
What a lovely photo
Capturing the ‘golden hour’ and the runner…perfect timing. Wonderful shot!
Great shot! I’d be a runner if I could, I loved those natural highs, but these days even walking is a pain, literally, unfortunately.
You caught the best moment. I love this shot.
I really like your shot this week. If I had such a lovely place to run, maybe I would do it more often!
