The Greens of Summer

Barn on the Enumclaw Prairie

Lush green, trees heavy with the burden of summer leaves create a dark canvas for a red barn. Here along the Sumner-Buckley Highway the barn of a small family farm sits nestled in a field of grass against broadleaf Maple trees.

I’ve noticed just the twinges of color change here in the last week or so, hinting of the colors that will soon shout out to be noticed in a few more weeks. I love the seasons as they change, although here in the Pacific Northwest (more specifically western WA), we have four distinct seasons, but winter is mostly filled with rain not snow. With the cooler mornings and shorter days, now 13 hours, 19 minutes (down from 15 hours, 59 minutes in June), I am enjoying the late summer weather.

The last bit on the house exterior will be finished today. That was easy! Not! But so thankful it’s done and it does look nice, too.

Beautiful contrast between the red barn and the green all around! You were in my neighborhood! I’ll bet you are happy to have the house all painted. That is a big job! Enjoy your holiday! xx
