Foggy, misty, almost heavy enough to be called a drizzle. Tent camping requires a willingness to brave a certain amount of the elements. Dirt, bugs (some of which bite), rain, heat, smoke from a camp fire, sleeping on the hard ground. I haven’t camped in a tent in about 30 years. The camping I do these days is pretty luxurious, our 26 foot Wilderness trailer provides all the amenities of home. Guilt used to cross my mind when we would camp in our trailer, it seemed to me at the time that I wasn’t suffering enough to be able to qualify my activity as true ‘camping.’
But these days, well, I just don’t mind, other people like these camping at Ocean Shores on the Pacific Ocean along the Washington coast last week can suffer a little for me. We didn’t even camp in our trailer, we stayed at the Best Western Lighthouse Inn, and loved every minute of our stay!

I’ve done my share of damp camping – in much smaller tents than that too. It probably accounts for my aches and pains!
That is some serious tents and fog and mist. damp damp damp. My bones would be telling me about it for a month of Sundays. But oh the memories of camping when I was a young girl. {sigh!}
I am with you, Madge! Camping is fun when you are really young, but now I feel I’ve earned the right to a little luxury! Envy your camper….trying to talk hubby into one. Oh, the places we could see! This shot captures the true essence of the camping experience. xx
Much as I like the picture, it’s also a good ad for Best Western!!
have to admit i dont sleep outdoors or shower anywhere but in an indoor bathroom .. but i do love getting pix of fog
That should be on the cover of Outside Magazine.
Wonderful photo though I pity the campers!
I’m with you! I’ll be spending a week down the Jersey shore with my 3 grandsons in close quarters and one bathroom…that’s about as close to roughing it as I’m going to get these days! Great photo! Magazine cover worthy!
The Best Western sounds like my kind of camping too, even better if there is a restaurant/bar close by! ;-)
We camped all over northern Calif., through the southwest, and on the coast up to B.C. and usually had good weather. Our last tent camping experience, on the WA coast, featured a huge 1 a.m. downpour that left puddles in the camp that our dog had to splash through. Now that we’re retired my wanderfoot can’t afford regular Best Western stays so we’ve just bought a small trailer in the hopes of continuing those outdoor adventures with a little more comfort.
P.S. Love this photo! It’s very evocative of that coastal experience. I can almost smell the salt air.
Love fog in photos.
I’m still in the almost-a-tent group.
Haven’t had an actual camper for quite a few years.
I will move to the hotel as soon as my husband agrees : )
I hiked and camped a lot when I was much younger. I also had a travel trailer for a few years and really liked it a lot. But last week, my stay at the Best Western in Santa Barbara was quite comfy:-)
Nice photo!
