Yellow Buoys – Weekly Top Shot #43

F/V Zealot - Buoys

Colorful for a reason, fishing buoys are meant to be seen in all weather conditions. Here on the stern of commercial fishing vessel, the F/V Zealot is a pleasing line of fluorescent yellow buoys. Owned by Misty Fjord Seafoods in Ketchikan, Alaska, she is 57 feet long, steel hulled, built in 1992 and can carry a payload of 71 tons. I always enjoy the bright pops of color on these working boats.

I am still working on painting the exterior of our house and am now a little more than half finished, but I believe the hardest part is now done. Work is looming on the horizon. In-Service is just ten days away, then bidding routes and buses the next day and school starts on August 30. Please forgive me for my lack of getting around to visiting you all as I would like but I must get this painting done!

    1. For the boats, I utilize a link to the US Coast Guard vessel registry, which gives some basic info about the boats. Other stuff, I have either personal knowledge or I research on line or at the library… I love knowing about places and things… just my curiosity working OT…
