Rip-Proof Overalls - Colfax WA

‘Rip-Proof Overalls, a New Pair Free if They Rip.’ Ghostwriting on the side of a brick building in downtown Colfax, Washington, advertises a variety of products. There are several layers of writing advertising books and cigars as well as the still bright ad for Rip-Proof Overalls. The lovely arched windows grace the front of the ‘Fraternity Building,’ built in 1889, the year that Washington became a state.

Laying low today, no painting, not much of anything… I’ve been getting all things medical caught up while I’m off on summer vacation. Yesterday, I had some surgery on my mouth and have been on pain medication and probably will all day today too. Eating is an interesting proposition..

  1. Well wishes on your recovery from oral surgery; very nice structure to the building so artfully dressed. Surprising they didn’t paint over all other ads before putting up a new one – still, neat stuff.

I love this shot! The ghost signs are wonderful, the town is so interesting, and the light is gorgeous and evocative. Another winer!

And, Madge: You’re very short-changed in the Fun Factor Department this summer! It’s so good to catch up on stuff, but. . .

Take good care. If you haven’t earned a dish of your favorite ice cream now you’re being w-a-y too hard on yourself!
