Wildfire Victims

Farmers Market Neon Sign at Pike Place Market

Wild fires have ravaged wide areas of the American West. The season is early, but the temperatures have soared and the wild fires have and are raging in the western half of the country. Hearing the personal tragedy of fellow blogger Janice at ‘Go West,’ Feral Woman,’ who has sustained losses in the recent and ongoing fires in Montana, ones heart is broken.  I read about her and her husband’s escape from the fire on July 4th and then July 5th the miracle that their horses and a cat survived though not without some painful burns.  Farmers and people just like you and me need help to recover from this devastation.

A very thoughtful blog friend of mine Nancy over at ‘A Rural Journal,’ in Nebraska has set up a goal of $1,000 to be raised by donations to the Montana Red Cross.  If you are a kind-hearted soul who would like to give a few bucks to help out those in need, please see the donation link in my sidebar.  Even if you don’t have money to give and I know how tight things are for many these days, you might like to drop by Janice’s website (link above) and leave a hug and encouragement.  Bless you for your kindness!

  1. We left Colorado just before the outbreak of fires… the mountain forests really are a tinder box. I wish the best to everyone who is in danger. Also, a special thanks to you Madge for posting a link to my website. You are so kind :^)

  2. that donation site is good. I know Whole Foods has donations ,too. Such a bad fire season, so much dangerous work. my friends house is safe, but they will have a blackened view for a long time. I’m so glad she got her animals.

  3. Oh I can relate so well to this post Madge, such a problem every year here in Australia too, I’m sure Americans are just as quick to help there country men as Aussies are and the money will be raised really quickly. Excellent post.
