Weathered, worn and exposed. A shingled cupola atop a barn still in use, shows obvious signs of weathering from exposure to the daily barrage of wind, rain, sun and snow. Sometimes I prefer the pristine and clean and sometimes I prefer the weathered and worn, but which ever barn I find to shoot is fine by me.

Love this, Madge.
I’m with Amy!
awesome photo, cupolas are always charming, whatever the condition.
Beautiful composition. And yes the cupola is unique.

Very cool.
You did a nice job, Madge, showing the texture of the weathered wood and the beautiful colors.
As long as there’s barns to shoot, right?! I agree w/ that one!!!
Thank you, Madge! =)
Absolutely beautiful! I never think of doing just a small section of the barn for my shots, but you’ve shown how well it can work!
Love the wonderful cupola on this barn! I found a similar one on a barn in Lostine, Oregon. Barns just aren’t built this way anymore, are they?
Weathered and worn and now exposed as wonderful, by Madge through this photo. Thanks, Madge!
I love the old weathered barn and the cupola on this one. But as long as there’s a barn to shoot, any will do.
I love the muted colors and the soft red tones. Beautiful!
A lovely shot Madge!
Love how you composed the shot!
Nice barn and photo!
This one is very simular to Norwegian tradisjon, the wood.

love the angle. would love to see more. (:
How neat that you were able to get so close. I, too, love the texture to the weathered wood and paint.
So many different slices of life this week, from the ubiquitous coffee sign to the weathered cupola. Postcard perfect!
I so prefer “weathered and worn” ;)
what a great shot .. I love photo of pieces/parts of things vs the whole ..
The old barns give a photo a look of time passed, a never ending errosion!
Great shot! : )
Michael.
pretty one!
weathered is my thing, this i LOVE. and the bridge is great, love that TREE i have my ornaments ready.
Very nice shot! Lovely cupola and the weathered wood is beautiful. For photos you just can’t beat the worn and weathered look, but when an old barn is left to crumble the beauty has a definite melancholy feel to it. The pristine and clean is always good to see, especially when you know the barn is very old.
