A Sea of Chassis

Port of Tacoma - SeaLand Chassis

One of busiest ports in the United States, Tacoma ranks tenth among the top thirty ports. Yesterday while driving home from my doctor’s appointment, I stopped in a blocked off curb lane on an old bridge spanning the Puyallup River in the heart of the Port of Tacoma. To the south I shot an image of a terminal staging ground that was covered with new John Deere combines and then to the north this image of the Sealand/Maersk Terminal and their yard. I cropped the view to isolate the chassis waiting to receive a container. I rather liked the repetitive shapes and colors.

  1. Of all the things I’d pick to really look cool/good/interesting in a photo, I doubt that the underbelly of a transport truck, much less dozens of them, would make the list. Yet, here you have a brilliant image, Madge. Brilliant!
