‘Baseball, Apple Pie, Hot Dogs and Chevrolet.’
That’s how foundational the game of baseball is in America. The boys of summer, our Seattle Mariner’s have been playing ball now for a couple months and fans are flocking to Safeco Field for the games. But I haven’t yet, and usually don’t. The cost of parking, tickets, a pop and hot dog will set you back a fast $100 for a couple, and my husband and I choose to spend it elsewhere. The team is almost in the basement in the American League West.. wah.wah.wah, not much excitement there anyway except for diehards.
Thanks for joining me today, for the view that is right here! ~ Madge

Your neon shots inspire me! Too bad I’m a home body after dark.
I’m hoping to get there this year when the Blue Jays are town – fingers crossed!
With the cost of experiencing the American pastime of baseball skyrocketing, it is becoming more and more of a die-hard fan or corporate sponsored seats type of event. My husband grew up baseball – went to the games, collected the cards (which we still have) and even named our son after Nolan Ryan. Earlier in our marriage he even indulged himself with ‘fantasy baseball’ and won several banners from ESPN. Now, after multiple strikes and increasing costs associated with kids – this sport is a luxury we rarely partake. We’re a lot like you – we’d prefer to spend our money elsewhere.
Wonderful night photo and interesting to hear the cost of baseball games. I think professional sport in the UK is also far too expensive and you hav eto be very keen and/or well off to attend.

Great shot! I too have to agree, as much as I love baseball it is too expensive. Such a shame because it is an experience every American child should have. Thank goodness the tickets to minor league games is still affordable for the most part.
Great Shot, Madge, I love the blue neon against the sepia background.
Makes me long for the sound of the bat hitting that homer.
It would only be the food that would entice me to attend a baseball game. ;)
Happy Saturday Madge!

Madge, it’s totally my computer and browser that locks up — not just on your site. Today, it’s decided to be nice. :)
Hi, just by to link up for your party. I’ll try to get by later.
