L'heure Bleue - Red Barn in the Palouse

The minutes before the sun slips away for another day are some of the most magical and turn everyday into mesmerizing.

Here a favorite barn of mine in the Palouse sits beside a freshly planted wheat field, tucked safely behind several trees.

I love how the last light hits the barn for a perfect red reflection.

I usually make a point to get out very early before first light and stay out late after twilight.

What about you,

do you seek to shoot during L’heure Bleue?

  1. Perfect timing, Madge. Very “atmospheric” shot with the twilight working its magic. I know that early mornings and evenings are the best times to get great photos but other things call me at that time. This week I’m going searching for sunsets though.

BTW, are you feeling better? The same thing happened to me in January–long time recovering.

  2. And BTW, hope you’re finally getting over that dreaded whooping cough. I haven’t heard of a case of that in a long time. Did you pick it up perhaps from one of those kids on the bus?

  3. I’ve been noticing some of my shots are washed out because I’m shooting at absolutely the wrong time of day… but, what can you do? Some photos just have to be taken whenever you can get them!

Lovely barn photo, Madge… hope you are sharing with Barn Charm this week! :)

Lovely shot! We’ve got about four hours of twilight time now between midnight and 4:00 a.m., but I don’t normally get out with my camera then. Glad to hear you’re feeling better. My son teaches in Anacortes and said they had a case of whooping cough at the HS there and that it was going around. Too bad that a disease they thought they had licked is making a comeback.

Madge, you do catch the most gorgeous light. This is another stunning shot.

Sorry to hear you’re not back to 100% yet. It’s tough to be laid low and even more so when it persists.
