Epicenter Apartments - Fremont WA

Live not only in ‘The Center of the Universe,’ live in the ‘Epicenter!’ The eclectic and sometimes eccentric Fremont residents began proclaiming their neighborhood of north Seattle, the ‘Center of the Universe,’ in the 1970s. Then in 1994 these apartments (The Epicenter Apartments) were built above the PCC (Puget Sound Consumer’s Coop, a local grocery store chain) with this huge and striking artwork on the corner of the building. The sixty-five foot tall stainless steel artwork by Mark Steven’s is called ‘Monsruang’ – Thai for ‘Jewelry from Heaven.’ Besides the 128 apartments above and the grocery stove below, the street level also houses a couple boutiques, ice cream shop, a coffee shop and sushi restaurant. Although I find PCC an expensive (they are organic) grocery to shop in I do love walking through occasionally and looking around. Their deli items are always delicious!

Thanks for joining me today, for the view that is right here! ~ Madge

  1. What a great shot with the beautiful building…the vehicles all lined up and that color…wow! That’s what I love about the PNW…it’s different. I don’t know how to explain it but it really is. People are more ‘earthy’ for lack of a better word. My children all live in BC and that’s where they were born and raised (except the oldest) and they are all very outdoorsy laid back and for lack of another better word…hippyish. Is that a word LOL? It’s always a fun time up there and we’ll be in BC this July. Thanks again for more fun memories.
