Ruffled Tulip in the Skagit Valley

Frilly and oh, so pretty. Growing in the rich, fertile soil of the Skagit Valley, tulips found here attract visitors and tourists from Washington, British Columbia (about a sixty mile drive both north from Seattle and south from Vancouver) and around the world. Fields covered in tulips and daffodils have been reduced over the years. At one time the whole valley was a carpet of color, these days thankfully there is still enough acreage in production to satisfy the craving of those who want to purchase bulbs and of photographers to shoot to their hearts content. Here a ruffled pink tulip which caught my eye, filled my viewfinder and saved forever in my mind.

Thanks for joining me today, for the view that is right here! ~ Madge

  1. I returned last night from visiting the Skagit Tulip Festival. I especially enjoyed Roozengaarde’s Garden. Although I didn’t get a great close shot of the tulip in you photos, I did see some like that and many more varieties. I think the bloom has peaked. It was crowded even on a weekday. Your photos inspired me to make the trip to see these beautiful tulip fields.
