Home Comfort - Wood Cook Stove

‘Home Comfort,’ gives the mental impression of solace and sanctuary.

Manufactured by the Wrought Iron Range Company in St. Louis, MO, this wood cook stove was probably purchased sometime in the 1930s (the only date I could find on it said 1930). Found inside what at one time was the one-room Aspendale School (near Moscow ID) turned community center, which appeared to be unused since the late 1970s. It was almost like someone simply closed the door thirty-five years ago and walked away, wooden chairs still sitting around, cups and dishes still sitting in the cupboard covered with towels. I love finding places like that.

Thanks for joining me today, for the view that is right here! ~ Madge

  1. Isn’t it amazing…and if only the dishes could tell you “the rest of the story?”

My husband’s family bought an ol’ farmstead back in Missouri in around 1958 or so, and when they took possession of the place, the dishes were still on the dining room table…clean and set for the next meal like they did back in those days.
