Skeleton-like, a roof is silhouetted against the pale, cool, spring sky. Abandoned in the Palouse, what once was a beautiful and serviceable barn, now sits slowly decaying, but the remnants of former glory days are still evident. Barns abound in the Palouse; around every half dozen bends in the road is another farmstead. Some barns are more attractive than others but all serve their owners’ daily. I can imagine this loft full of sweet smelling hay, with a cat or two sleeping or mousing. Perhaps a child as well who finds solace and sanctuary there to ponder life… just like I did.
Monday, it’s back to work after Spring Break, loved having a week off. It is now the downhill slide until the end of the school year on June 14th, just forty-three more school-day get ups…
Thanks for joining me today, for the view that is right here! ~ Madge

Awesome lighting effects with the sky showing through the open roof slats. Good morning Madge, my friend!
Nice light and shadows in this shot.
Interesting angle and design on this one.
Nice capture Madge. Like the brown against the blue sky coming through the slats!
so much beauty in such a small corner.
You just continue to outdo yourself, Madge!
Nice perspective Madge!
Can’t you just imagine a child swinging down from the loft opening. Great find and as always, wonderfully photographed.
beams look strong, yet, even if the roof is not.
That is such a gorgeous capture…fabulous composition, opposing lines, and natural framing. And, such a charming old thing, too.
Great shot of a great old barn. Did anyone mention air conditioning yet?
great perspective. really enjoy this. (:
I went back to school today, too. The break went by way too quickly for me. Nice air conditioning system in this old barn…a free one! I love the perspective from which you took the shot. Awesome photography. genie
It is just so sad to see barns falling apart…you know they all have so many stories to tell.
the missing slats form an interesting pattern, they are almost missing evenly!! it’s a wonderful capture, the light is just facinating!!
you have left several kind comments for me, i had trouble finding/coming over through google. my computer skills are lacking somewhat!! thank you!!
Beautiful shot – what a great roof!

I love the shot, I thought of kids playing or hiding too.
You take wonderfully artsy photos, Madge!
Wonderful photo! Sad to see the deterioration of this old barn….
A really great perspective in capturing the best of what is left of the old barn!
An intriguing image, you caption suits it well.
