High Tailing It - White Tail Deer

Vamoose, scram, scoot, skedaddle, beat feet, cut and run… how many ways can you say ‘making a hasty retreat?’ I love deer, such gentle creatures with big soft eyes. Sometimes, I find they are difficult to photograph. Spook them and they’ll likely flee. Often all I get is a tail and rump disappearing in the brush, in the woods, over a ridge. Here a White-Tail doe is in the act of disappearing over a ridge in eastern Washington at sunset, on a cold spring evening.

  1. this is gorgeous Madge! we have a group of deer that come into the neighborhood and munch…sometimes if i’m lucky i’ll catch them in my yard. they are pretty used to everyone….if i’m driving by i can stop and take pictures and they just look at me and go back to eating…that is when i remember to keep my camera with me!
