Gillspray Stern - Rotting Away

Sitting, unused rising and falling with the tides, the Gillspray is slowing rotting away. Built in 1939, this old tug now sits, moored along a dock with questionable reliability itself. Sixty feel long and seventeen feet wide, the cabin and bridge don’t look quite as rotten as the rail. Hopefully someone will give this beautiful old boat a new lease on life with some repairs… perhaps they’re too expensive, maybe that’s why she sits in her current condition.

My husband and I laugh over the truth of a saying, “A boat is a hole in the water into which you pour money.” Some of these old boats are/were such beauties. It’s heartbreaking to see them in such decline but it takes a lot of money to get them back in shape. . .and even more to keep them that way.
