Once in a while a sign makes you scratch your head… Most rest stops these days have designated pet areas for dogs, keeping their ‘flops’ away from the picnic areas where people frequent. But here near the central eastern Oregon, high desert town of Brothers, is a rest area where you will find a sign indicating the way to the ‘Horse Exercise Area.’ Having been in rest stops across the United States (while driving alone on a trip to Sparta, NC and back) and I must say this is the only sign of its type I’ve ever seen. So if you are driving, trailering your saddle horses and are looking for a rest stop that caters to your needs, head out the Central Oregon Highway (SR 20) to Brothers (about half way between Burns and Bend) you’ll find just the place. Only in the rural west…
I guess someone doesn’t consider horses as pets! Great, funny sign. :)
Perhaps not… ours were!
what to do….hmmmm lol
This way or that?
Funny!
I agree…
You find the funnest things when you are out with your camera, I have seen signs like that in our rest stops too.
Sometimes its just right place/right time isn’t it? Where have you seen these signs???
You brought a smile to Missouri this morning! What fun!
Thanks Connie… smiles are good, yes?
Oh, how I love conflicing signs with arrows! I’m betting the horses get a lot more space than dogs do. And I’ve never seen anyone walking a horse in the “pet area.”
I’ll bet their area is larger too! As to seeing horses unloaded at a rest area, I’ve never seen that either!
would that be due to the amount of rodeos that go on in the west? People travelling with horses….. didn’t know it could be a problem!
Perhaps… good idea!
well, it did made me smile : )
I’m glad it did! ;-)
Now that is what I call “hospitality”!
Yes… I agree… Brothers is just a wide spot in the road… literally!
Very funny! Even the four-legged creatures have tough decisions to make. Thanks for the invite to weekly top shot. Will try for this week but if not then definitely next week.
Choices.. choices.. what to do?? Lol!
Which way do we go? Hmmm
Left… Right?? Lol!
lol go figure! Nice catch!
Thanks James!
You know I think I have been to that rest stop. cool.
Just a wide spot in the road, isn’t it?
