Christmas and football, does that mix? Well it seems to pretty well this year at CenturyLink Field or ‘The Clink’ as it is now being affectionately being referred to around town. The stadium managers replaced the usual Seahawk blue and green lights on the stadium roof struts with candy cane red and white. The lighting also rotated through a red and green cycle too.

According to the schedule, there will be one game on Christmas Day (personally, I think the players should be home with their families) with Chicago at Green Bay. Our payroll clerk at work is a HUGE Packers fan, she hails from Green Bay and on Fridays she can occasionally be seen around the office wearing her ‘Green Bay Cheese Head.’

Our next game is tomorrow on Christmas Eve day, the San Francisco 49ers are here at ‘The Clink’ for a home game against our Seahawks, who are still vying for a wild card berth in the playoffs with a record of 7-7. The Hawks have had a bit of a come back these last couple games; the season began rather dismally, but thankfully the outlook has picked up a bit now. The 49ers are at the top of our league (the NFC West) with a record of 11-3. It should be a good game, and yes, we’ll be watching. ‘Go Seahawks!’

Christmas Day will start with sticky buns and good coffee, then waffles for breakfast. Next comes family gifts being opened; after which lunch will mean foraging the many snackables on the dining room table while the turkey is roasting with dressing and a few fixings (not a full blown meal). Lastly, comes relaxing in front of the 48″ flat screen HDTV for the game @ 16:20 CST while we munch on turkey sandwiches, and in support of Lois at work I’ll say ‘Go Packers!’.

  1. I’m not particularly a football fan but, I have to admit, I really enjoyed reading your post – especially the visual I got re. the ‘cheesehead.’ Love it! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!

  2. what i love the most about this photograph is the blue reflection on the street puddles (or is it ice?). the photo you posted a few days ago of the space needle in fog is gorgeous as well!
