Like eating in diners? I do, it is good, honest food. If you do too, the 5 Spot Cafe is a place you won’t want to miss when you visit Seattle’s Queen Ann Hill neighborhood. The diner changes themes every quarter, this quarter their food theme is ‘Broadway’ from New York City and the next will be Key West. Each theme requires a new menu of classic diner food from the region chosen to be highlighted, and the names of dishes are themed as well.
Comfortable tables fill quickly as soon as the doors open. Friendly staff take and deliver your order. My daughter and I ate here about a week ago on her 26th birthday after we froze waiting to photograph the lunar eclipse which fizzled in Seattle due to cloud cover. While eating we were looking at and enjoying the eclectic decor, some of which hung right above our heads… three pairs of giant (about six feet tall) paper mache can-can legs, intermittently they would activate and do a high kick! It was a hoot!
What a lovely sounding place- your photos make it look something special too.
Madge, Seattle should have you on the payroll. You make me want to visit yesterday! Margie
i like it, would like to eat there too, but way to far away from where I am. I love retro in all things and this is that.
Oh, come on. I know you took a picture of those legs! What a great idea to change the diner menu according to a theme. I’ll bet it keeps lots of customers coming back for more to see what great new dishes are being served. If the food is good one time, it’s bound to be good the next!
that looks like a really cool place! a diner has to have good pie!!!
Those legs are a hoot. Thanks for adding them.
Diners are a New Jersey staple – love ’em! What a great looking blog – can’t wait to see more. And thanks for stopping by and commenting at PhotoKismet – greatly appreciated!
Great shot.
Just the right place to sit down, warm up and order up some nice samwich and a cup of tea or coffee :) Thank you for stopping by my place!
Looks like a great place, Madge, with fun themes! I’ve had some memorable, good food in diners too. You’ve certainly highlighted some interesting spots lately.
Looks like a great spot to dine! And that “5 Spot” sign is terrific!
Love your photography blog! Just went through a bunch of posts and just got lost in the photos! Seattle is on my bucket list, and now I must remember this diner (hope it’s still there for me to visit)!
Dear Madge, just left my first comment on your blog…seriously, check “if you are NOT a spammer”?? This made me laugh! I guess spammers are dumber than I thought!
