Young… Mallard… Iridescent… Feathers… Watching…
Walking along the dock where 14th Ave Northwest dead-ends at the Ship Canal boat ramp in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, I came upon a flock of Mallard Ducks and Canadian Geese still resting in the chilly, clear, early morning sunshine. This fellow seemed totally unconcerned as I approached with my camera in hand; he never flinched nor batted an eye while I shot several images. Male Mallards are so beautiful, don’t you agree? With their iridescent blue-green feathers, which glimmer in the light, it’s hard to get a bad shot. Looking back as I walked away, he and his flock mates continued resting serenely in the thin warmth of early morn.
Super photo!
Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment… I wondered if something was wrong… :-)
He has some great color on his head.
Thanks, Randy… ;-)
Nice shot Madge! And you did have problems earlier, I couldn’t get your pages to come up.
Thanks, Paul… I wondered about that… my server seems to be having some issues lately which is very unusual.

Wow! How lucky to have such a willing model. Beautiful shot!
They are so beautiful. How sweet that they trusted you enough not to feel threatened. Did you ask him to turn his head different ways and smile?
This is a beautiful Mallard, and a great picture. He really has alot of great colors. I like this close-up photo. You do a wonderful job of taking pictures and posting them for all of us to enjoy. Keep it up!
