A Veteran Honoring Veterans

Veteran… Duty… Honor… Memories…

Veteran’s Day… a day for honoring all who have given so much to keep the United States of America the land of the free, because they were and are the brave. Here a veteran color guard member stands quietly at Tahoma National Cemetery near Maple Valley WA, waiting with his Veteran’s of Foreign Wars post to present the colors at the ceremony last year on Veteran’s Day.

My father is buried in this hallowed ground of heroes, a beautiful National cemetery and the only one in Washington State. My father, James Caudle, was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, Tech 4 with a Tank Destroyer Unit, landing on Normandy on D-Day +6, he fought through the Battle of the Bulge and was always a Patriot. I am proud my father was a veteran and I honor all veterans on this the day we as a nation set aside to remember their valor, service and sacrifice.

  1. Wonderful tribute for today. The day does not seem as memorable anymore…so sad. I recall Armistice Day as a time when we sold and wore red paper poppies with a significant stop at 11 am in the classroom when we stood and paused to remember all the soldiers. Doesn’t happen anymore; haven’t seen a red poppy in decades.

  2. How amazing that your Father made it through all of that. What a hero! I am so proud of our service men and women. They work tirelessly and with pride and honor to serve this country. I’m so thankful for them and for your Father. Because of them, we are free. – I love the colors in your first photo and the perspective on your Father’s headstone is really cool!
