Cat sanctuary finds homes for needy cats… Patrick, the Pike Place Market ‘Cat Man,’ maintains a free adoption service for cats. Here he poses for a portrait with Cubby, the amazing ‘Pike Place Market Cat.’ Cubby helps draw people to Patrick’s sidewalk booth where they can learn more about the cat sanctuary. During the eight years Patrick has been working with unwanted and homeless cats, he has place over 200 cats into good homes and over 50 cats into homes of folks living in the condos and apartments surrounding the market. I put a buck in the donation can for the continuation of his work with cats who need homes.
This is an exquisite photo! Very, very good. It says so much!
Thanks Michaele… Jason was a delight, and Cubby too!
Sweet beautiful portrait!
They both were delightful characters, it was fun to have the opportunity to take their picture… I asked and he said yes, picking up Cubby for a pose!
A great photo, Madge — love the hat and love the sweater on Cubby. :)
Thanks, Nancy… the other kitty has a quilted orange coat… both kitties were well cared for!
I quite like cats, but they are not people. Cubby looks cute, though perhaps also thinking “whats happening, why this strange woman taking my photo”. Paul at Leeds in Yorkshire daily photo
I agree, they are not people… but we do love them and our puppies too, don’t we!?! I agree Cubby looks a bit perturbed…
Awwwww! what a great man to do that for the kitties… The best of luck to him & all the kitties, they’re so lucky to have him!!! =)
I think so too… our furry friends need the help…
What a sweet photo. I love the kitties little knitted sweater.
Jason was very friendly and the kitties were too… I was glad he said I could take their picture! ;-)
What a lovely cat, what a great ambassador.
Yes, almost everyone who walks by stops for a few pets and kinds words…
I love the kitties sweater.
Me, too… wonder who made it!?
That is a really nice photo of two good friends!
Yes, he really loves that cat! And Cubby trusts him…
He must really love cats, looks like he does.
I think so too… really loves those kitties and the ones he finds homes for.
We need more people in the world like Jason. Love the shot!
Yes, I agree… it was fun to talk to him and pet Cubby…
Great photo! Love the cats sweater : )
Thanks, Tipper… everybody (me included) seems to get a kick out of the kitty sweater! :-)
Aw, anyone who does anything to help kitties is a good guy in my book! (By the way, thanks for visiting and leaving a comment for me over at my place!)
Thanks, Dianna for the return visit!
This photo does the heart good ~ love it! Love Jason and all that he does for homeless kitties. A man with a big heart to be sure.
Woot woot Jason!! You are a wonderful person!
Thanks for posting this – such a wonderful post!

Thanks, Catherine… I think he really has a heart for the kitties too. He was a delight to chat with… petting Cubby and his buddy was a bonus!

Yes.. I thought so too!
Fantastic! Great portrait, Madge.
Thank you! :-)
the photo makes me happy and made me grin like an idiot. the story touches my heart
It makes me happy too, Sandra… the kitty ‘Cubby’ look like a bigger, chubbier version of my little cat, Gelly (short for Magellan)… he is making a positive difference for some of God’s creatures.
Hello Madge,
Thank you for the picture. When I worked in downtown Seattle, I would go to the Pike Place Market once a week, partly to get a “Cubby fix.” I no longer work downtown, but fortunately have four cats at home for my fix. Two of my cats, Benny and Tom, have a page on the The Art of Cats website that Patrick & Jason maintain.
The man holding Cubby in the photo is Patrick, the PPM Cat Man; Jason is Patrick’s adult son, and often accompanies Patrick, or escorts the cats alone. Both Patrick and Jason are committed to cats, and their public outreach illustrates how calm cats can be when properly socialized.
Thanks so much Bob, for correcting me… I thought he said his name was Jason, I must have been confused as we talked keeping it all straight and remember after I got home. So thankful you have a couple of ‘his’ kitties!
