Houseboats and Seattle, it’s a good thing…
Seattle has long been familiar with houseboats. At the turn of the last century (1900) there were more than 1,000 houseboats around town, these days less than 500 due to freeway construction, zoning laws and shoreline development. If the city of Seattle had its way, there would be far fewer. Most houseboats these days are in or around Lake Union.
This small houseboat is moored along the north shore of Lake Union, just a few hundred yards west of the Montlake Cut which connects Lake Union with Lake Washington to the East. While this particular houseboat would not have a view of the Seattle skyline, most that are moored here do. Here we’ve got a towel drying in the dutch door, a few plants on the deck and a bbq… I wonder what’s for dinner?
That would be a dream, even if only for a few weeks. Love the color.
it is charming!
Bright colours and Dutch doors seem to be a standard feature on houseboats. They aren’t my cuppa, but each to his own.
I really like this image…love the colors and the subject.
What a way to live. I think it looks awesome.
I love it. Very simplistic really.
