Sailing into the tangerine sunset. The M/V Wenatchee, a Washington State Ferry, sails from the Coleman Ferry Dock in downtown Seattle towards its destination on Bainbridge Island. Crossing Puget Sound multiple times per day, this Jumbo Mark II class ferry is one of the largest in the fleet able to carry 202 vehicles and 2,500 passengers. At 461 feet in length it’s class is the second longest double ended ferry in the world. To me nothing is quite so pleasant to the eye as one of our white ferries making way across the cerulean blue waters of Elliott Bay and Puget Sound. If you visit Seattle, be sure to make time to take a ferry to one of the communities on the Olympic Peninsula or a island in the Sound.
OH! I am loving the layers of color in this photograph! A tangerine sky – so yummy. And cerulean water – so poetic. This is so lovely and makes me want to say, “Finally, something that has Auburn’s school colors in it that isn’t tacky!” They ought to all buy a huge print of this and hang it on their walls!
Thanks, Rachel… pass along the info, they’re welcome to buy as many as they want!
Cool!
Thanks, Dennis…
I agree Madge, a ferry sailing across any of the northwest waters is a pretty sight, one I see from my own balcony daily.
BC has pretty ferries too… I took a 40′ school bus across from Tsawwassen to Victoria one time delivering Evergreen Band to the parade… loved that!
Washington and BC have an amazing and efficient marine highway system. I have always enjoyed the ferry trips to and from Vancouver Island.
Me too, JoJo… I just mentioned to Paul that I took a 40′ school bus across from Tsawwassen to Victoria one time delivering Evergreen Band to the parade… loved that!
I love the layers of colors.
Very nice! I guess there are some (selfish) “benefits” of the Olympic Mtns. forest fires!
