The hot summer sun, illuminates fluorescent orange crab pot buoys wrapped in netting. There is something appealing, something eye catching, something attractive about these utilitarian pot buoys. I find myself drawn to them again and again, sometimes they are squeezed between boats at berth, sometimes just dangling over the side, sometimes cast aside on deck, sometimes stored inside a crab pot waiting for the next king crab season. Here I’ve captured a couple buoys again at Fishermens’ Terminal in the Ballard neighborhood of Ballard, these are not on a Deadliest Catch boat, but a crab boat nonetheless.
