Not many alleys are named, but an exception in Seattle is ‘Post Alley.’ Post Alley begins at its north end at Virginia Street, between First and Western Avenues, running to Main Street at the south end. The alley starts and stops here and there where buildings have been built across the whole block between First and Western Avenues. The alley has many small store fronts, restaurants, bars, loading docks and yes, dumpsters. Lights are still glowing in the early morning light here on this bit of Post Alley which runs diagonally north and slightly east from the main part of the Market on Pike Place towards University Street where there is an exceptionally good coffee shop, Seattle’s Best Coffee. Meet me for a cuppa?
Awesome little alley, I could hang out there for hours.
Me too..coffee?? :-)
No one is in the shot. What time of the day did you shoot this Madge? Nice capture.
It was early, about 06:30 if I recall correctly… I like the early light.
As I recall there is also a great restaurant in that pink building.
I think the pink building is Sur la Table, a kitchen store, but to the right is Cafe Campagne and I understand it IS good!
I like the nooks and crannies cities big cities afford. Nice shot Madge.
Seattle certainly has lots of nooks and crannies… thanks Paul!
The chowder place is where I would head!
I’m with you there, I love chowder too! ;-)
Rather a long way to come for a coffee, Madge. I’m sure one day we’ll be able to send coffee over the internet but till that time you’ll have to drink a cup for me.
Milk and sugar?? I’ll do that for you! ;-)
Ah, early morning@ Post Alley! I’m glad you decided to take some shots there.
I actually did a shoot there a few weeks ago for a great family.
Thanks for sharing!
