Feeling Funny? Take your funny feeling down to the Comedy Underground for ‘Open Mic’ on Monday nights. Celebrating 30 years of entertaining Seattleites, it is located at 109 South Washington Street in historic Pioneer Square. In this photo, the entrance to the club is seen through a forest of colorful ‘Knitted Trees,’ an art display by Seattle artist Suzanne Tidwell in Occidental Park. This whimsical and a bit odd display of public art was my featured post on June 11. Sharpen your punch lines and head for ‘Open Mic’ night or drop in to share a few laughs with the crowd at the club. Some of what passes as comedy doesn’t strike me funny these days, a bit too sarcastic and crude, but I love to laugh when it is good, clean and funny! What makes you laugh these days?
it looks very dr. suess’ish!
Dr. Seuss-ish… I like that idea! ;-)
Oh I love the comedy underground! I didn’t know they had an open mic! We have a “wanna-be” comedian staying with us over the weekend… perhaps we could convince him to get on up there! That would be fantastic. :)
Christina… go to their website (http://comedyunderground.com/) for details! Have fun! :-)
that’s funny that Tanya said that because that was my first thought too, Dr. Seuss and Cat in the Hat.
I didn’t think Seuss at all… isn’t it funny how different things strike each one of us! Maybe if the knitted tree ‘coats’ were red and white I might of thought of that! :-)
What a great idea for decoration! Though if you tried to do that round here the town council would probably try to tidy you up.
It is rather whimsical… at first it struck me a bit odd but over time and having seen and photographed in Occidental Park a number of times since it was first displayed a couple months ago, it has grown on me and I like it! This ‘Knitted Tree’ display is a collaboration between the city arts department and local artists so in this case the city won’t be complaining about it! ;-)
