Homeless Diane - Panhandling in Seattle

This elderly, homeless women frequents First Avenue in downtown Seattle on a daily basis panhandling for money. I photographed her once before. Her first image appears in my post titled,’Invisible, Alone and Passed By.’   A few weeks after capturing and posting that first photo, my husband, who volunteers at a homeless shelter on occasion, met Diane there and recognized her from my photo. Here on First Avenue she is in one of her favorite spots looking for kind souls with a bit of extra change. She still pulls at my heart strings, what about you?

I love her as your subject. And I agree that there’s something a little bit more….. special… about homeless women.

Thanks Vanessa.. I would too, I hope to get to meet and talk to her one of these days at the homeless shelter.

  • It just wracks me with guilt that there are so many people without the simple basic necessities. Good to draw arttention to it. Love your blog

Thank you for visiting… homelessness and the needy will always be with us, sad but true… I wish it wasn’t…

    Madge,
The Lord uses your eyes, you see through His eyes….wonderful. Her double scarfs, a workers brilliant green rain jacket, so all can see her and those eyes. Don’t eyes always tell a story? Makes you wonder if she is one of God’s angels in disguise. 🙂 Drawing those to her, I wonder does she knows Jesus? Notice she asks for spare change and used clothes…

Thanks Kim… How surprised I am to get you for a visitor! 🙂 Diane may know the Lord, she frequents a homeless shelter at the University Temple United Methodist Church… I hope so too.
