Hazards of Fireworks - Fire at the Dairy Queen

Yes Virginia, fireworks are hazardous! Last night at 23:17 pm, I took a little spin around the neighborhood to see the locals setting off fireworks. While driving towards one of our community parks where some big blasts were lighting the sky, I saw a fire at the Dairy Queen, I stopped and called 911. There is a tall hedge (about 10′) of pyramidalis between the Dairy Queen property and the small strip mall next door to the north. I live in a small pocket of unincorporated King County where fireworks use is still legal, not necessarily safe nor sane, but that is another topic for discussion!

A couple minutes after my 911 call, the North Highline Fire Department arrived and doused the fire and cleaned up a bit.

I was impressed with the quick response and efficient work of our fire department, they are to be commended for their life and property saving work!

  1. Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh. Thank goodness you were in the right place at the right time, and thank goodness for your quick thinking! I probably would’ve panicked.

And is that kid just watching? Seriously?

    1. Thanks Josy for visiting… I grabbed my phone, called and then my camera, and started shooting… the light was so low that most of the images were too blurry and unusable. Thankfully a few had enough clarity to post.
