Seattle Seafair Pirates

The Seattle Seafair Pirates began to be seen around the city of Seattle in 1949, and were formed to help promote and entertain at the new community celebration called Seafair. The Pirates entertain and raise funds for charities all year long, but it is summer when they really come into their element. This year on July 9, 2011 the Pirates will land in West Seattle on Alki Beach (they have a amphibious duck) to kick off the month-long Seafair season with the parade called HiYu. They then begin participating and entertaining in about forty community celebrations leading up to the climax with the Seafair Parade and the Hydroplane races on Lake Washington.
