F/V Wizard - Deadliest Catch - Crab Boat

Deadliest Catch, the reality TV show features a number of boats.

:   :   :

The popularity of the show has made some boats household names,

the 150 foot F/V Wizard being one of them.

The Wizard was originally built to serve as a fuel barge at the end of World War II for the U.S. Navy.

It was mothballed and then purchased by John Jorgenson in the late 1970s and converted to a crab boat.

Keith Colburn bought the crab boat in 2005,

renaming it the Wizard and giving it a new paint job as well.

While out for a short drive around town,

I ended up in Ballard and spotted the Wizard tied up at Pacific Shipyards

on the north side of the Ship Canal across from Fishermen’s Terminal.

Nice to see they are home safe again.

Season 7 of Deadliest Catch begins on April 12 on Discovery Channel

for all you would be crabbers (myself included) tune in!

As Captain Jonathan Hillstand says,

‘Shut up and fish!’
