Washington State Ferries – The largest domestic fleet of passenger/vehicle ferries in the United States and third largest in the world.
Our fleet of twenty ferries service communities around Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. The largest of our ferries can accommodate 202 vehicles and 2,500 passengers. The fleet is operated by the State of Washington Department of Transportation and are painted a serene white with green trim. Because the vessels have a bridge at each end and are open ended, there is no need for these ferries to turn around. Somehow taking a ferry ride to another point around Puget Sound always feels like you’ve taken a short vacation, even if you’ve only traveled a few miles. If you visit Washington State, you’ll want to be sure to take a relaxing and picturesque ride aboard one of our beautiful ferries!
