Pike Place Market Sign - Looking West on Pike Street

Looking west on Pike Street from the Seattle Convention Center, the vintage Public Market Sign illuminates the early morning fall gloom. A fixture since the 1930s on the roof of Seattle’s famous Pike Place Market, the neon sign can only be seen along Pike Street and on Pike Place in the Market itself. I love the market, it is one of my favorite destinations around town when inspiration is low. There are always photo ops there, along with fresh hot coffee at the original/first Starbucks shop, fresh Dungeness Crab cocktails from Pure Food Fish Market and sweet pastries from the Three Girls Bakery. I haven’t been to the market in a couple months, I think if my cold is better I’ll make a trip down next Saturday morning for a bit of Seattle local color and flavor.

Can I brag a little bit?? I was contacted by a local graphic arts design firm asking for permission to use one of my images in the newest edition of the promotional calendar for the Seattle Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. The image will appear on the December calendar page.  View my blog post and the image here,  ‘Rudolph The Red Nosed… Pig.’ I’ll receive credit for my image, a link to my photography blog and five copies of the calendar after it is printed in a couple weeks.  What a delight as a photographer to be considered good enough to have one of my images included in a product that will be distributed to visitors from around the country and world.

Sharing with ‘Sweet Shot Tuesday #123,‘ and ‘Our World Tuesday #60.
