Here,
at 15:12 hours
the KLine vessel ‘Chiswick Bridge,
was being brought into berth at Husky Terminal
on Blair Waterway in the Port of Tacoma,
by a Crowley tug at the bow and a
Foss tug at the stern.
Its official ETA was 17:00 hours, so it was
nearly two hours early.

As I was shooting,
I was mentally calculating the length of this ship at 880′
but after coming home and looking it up,
it is 902′ in length and carries 5,608 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalents).

I retired from working on the Seattle waterfront in 1990.
At that time, a ship that was 700 feet was long.
All of the ports have had to upgrade their gantry cranes
to be able to accommodate these large ships in height and breadth.
KLine moved to the Port of Tacoma in 1988 and prior to its move,
it was one of the shipping lines that I handled cargo for
as a freight agent for
the Port of Seattle.

Nice perspective! It’s amazing how the huge ship really makes the tug boat look so small. Have a nice day Madge.
What a gigantic ship!
Though as someone who shoots a lot of tugboat photos, I’d put the emphasis on the Crowley! Nice shooting.
