Worm Casings ~ Weekly Top Shot #188

Salt Water Piling Worms Casing - Puget Sound, WA

Un·known : ənˈnōn : [adjective] : not known or familiar

Normally,

I give you a definition that describes something

about my posted image.

But today, not so

much.

:  :  :

I came across some used cement saltwater pilings

that had been reclaimed and used as landscape retaining bumpers

at a little skinny park along the Duwamish River in south Seattle.

About all I can tell you

is these casings or castings seem to be made of very thin

calcium carbonate (like an oyster shell),

or my husband thinks perhaps made out of sand,

who knows, a further mystery.

Regardless of the unknowns,

I was intrigued by the swirling shapes

the tubes left behind

when broken

open.
